There are ways to get and activate your DS Logon account WITHOUT remote proofing. The preferred method is to use the email registration function by selecting "I have my DoD ID Card or CAC but NO access to a CAC reader". An email with activation code will be sent to the email address on file with instructions. Before using these options, email addresses for all family members (e.g., sponsor, spouse, and children) must be unique and cannot be a duplicate with any family member. STOP!!! Read below BEFORE you register or log into DS Logon. READ THE SUPPORT DOCUMENTATION AND FAQS. You will need to understand the process regarding very specific items BEFORE you begin the process to remote proof to create an account or reset a password. Search for available account creation options that are available to your DoD affiliation. REQUIRED: Effective April 1, 2023, you are required to sign in at least once every 180 days (6 months) to prevent your account from being deactivated. IMPORTANT MESSAGE RE LOCK OUT PERIODS: If you receive a message you are locked out for 1 hour due to too many attempts to enter your one-time PIN or 31-days due to too many remote proofing attempts, you MUST wait as advised. The DMDC Customer Call Center (CCC) cannot assist with unlocking your ability to remote proof as the lock occurs at the data vendor site. If you have a CAC, you can use that credential to log in.
