Nutrition Services
The Nutrition Clinic provides nutrition assessment, education and counseling to all authorized beneficiaries. Individual appointments and group classes are available. Classes include weight reduction, nutrition management for diabetes, hypertension, and elevated cholesterol levels, which may be taught in conjunction with the Health Management Clinic.
Access to Care
Patients are allowed to self-refer for education but follow-up care and enrollment is done by referral from their Primary Care Provider. The Clinic will be glad to answer any questions regarding the referral process.
Appointments
To schedule or cancel an appointment please call the Health Management Clinic at 757-314-7612.
Appointments are required for follow-ups and all classes. All patients are requested to bring a list of their current medications, both prescribed and over-the-counter, as well as herbal supplements or food additives that you may be using. We also ask that the patient bring any self-monitoring booklets or diet trackers that they use at home.
Don't Be a no show!
McDonald Army Health Center wants your help in reducing the number of "No Shows". Patients who miss appointments or arrive late by 10 minutes or more to their scheduled appointments are considered "No Shows". "No Shows" limit the number of available appointments. The Health Center request that beneficiaries cancel at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.
