MISSION:
The mission of the Optometry Clinic is to conserve the fighting strength in the realm of vision care by providing the highest quality primary eye care to Active-Duty members in the Tidewater area.
ROUTINE EYE EXAMS
Active Duty Servicemembers only
No referral needed to schedule exam

Please bring all current eyewear to your appointment
PHYSICALS
The eye portion of all military physicals performed on walk-in basis
Hours: Mon-Fri 0730-1100
Note: scheduled patients have priority over walk-in patients
Class 1 flight physicals please call to schedule exam.
Appointments last at least 2 hours
Eyes will be dilated. Vision will be blurry and eyes will be light sensitive for the remainder of the day.
GLASSES ORDERS AND PICKUP
Active duty and Retirees with a current, valid prescription may walk-in to order glasses
Hours: Mon-Fri 0730 to 1100 and 1300 to 1500
Retirees may order one pair of glasses per year
URGENT EYE PROBLEMS
Walk-ins will be triaged by technician in the clinic
Same day appointment will be offered if deemed necessary
LIMITED CONTACT LENS SERVICES
Contact lenses and fitting is not a Tricare covered benefit
Lenses must be purchased at patient’s expense from an outside provider
Current contact lens wearers may have their prescription updated at the doctor’s discretion if:
Patient brings their current lenses
Patient brings their current contact lens prescription and/or their boxes of lenses
Contact lens updates are not provided for AIT students
